Identity Verification Notice
On October 26, 2001, President Bush signed into law the USA Patriot Act. The purpose of this law is to help protect you, your family and our country from terrorism by preventing terrorist financing. We want you to know that section 326 of this Act requires our credit union to verify the identity of all new credit union members. We must also verify the identity of members and nonmembers added as signatories to and have access to new or existing deposit accounts and loans. We must also retain copies of documents used to verify your identity. If you are an existing member who joined the credit union before the USA Patriot Act rules became effective we may also need to verify and retain copies of any documents used to verify your identity when you request a new deposit account, apply for a loan or are added as a signatory to a new or existing deposit or loan account. We ask for your understanding as we work to support these efforts to maintain the security of your funds and our country. Protecting personal information and using it in a manner consistent with our members’ expectations is a high priority to everyone associated with Skyward Credit Union.
I. Skyward Credit Union will collect only the personal information necessary to conduct our business. This includes:
- Information we receive from you on applications or other forms
- Information about your transactions with us, our affiliates or others; and,
- Information we receive from a consumer reporting agency
II. Skyward Credit Union will protect your personal information. Skyward Credit Union will maintain strong security controls to ensure that member information, in our files and computers, is protected. Where appropriate, we will use security coding techniques to protect against unauthorized access to personal records, to ensure accuracy and integrity of communications and transactions, and protect member confidentiality.
III. You will always have access to your information. As a member of Skyward Credit Union, you can always review your information and make changes to ensure that our records are complete and accurate.
IV. Skyward Credit Union will only share information when absolutely necessary. We will only share information to administer the products and services we provide, or when we partner with other businesses to offer a broader array of products and services.
V. Skyward Credit Union will partner only with businesses that follow strict confidentiality requirements. The businesses we select will offer products designed to enhance our members’ economic well-being. Under no circumstances will we authorize those firms to charge your account for any fees without your express consent, and we will not sell member information to telemarketing firms. Skyward Credit Union will offer you a choice in how your information is used. Any member of Skyward Credit Union may elect to keep information from being shared with our business partners. We will take all reasonable steps to make sure your requests are followed.
